Water Treatment

Why should I test my water?

Depending on the system, a water treatment solution can remove all kinds of contaminants commonly found both in city and well water. These include particles that cause:

  • Stains – Minerals like calcium, magnesium, and iron in your water can leave white, green, or red stains behind when the water dries. They can also clog your pipes and wreak havoc on your plumbing, which makes a water softener or problem-solving water filter a valuable investment.

  • Smells – Chlorine and sulfur particles can make water smell like rotten eggs and taste like a warm swimming pool. Not only does this affect the water you drink, but it also impacts the flavor of the food you cook. A drinking water purification system or whole-house water filtering system can quickly resolve this problem.

  • Sickness – While city water systems across Florida use chemical treatments (usually chlorine) to eliminate bacteria and waterborne parasites, well water receives no such treatment. Fortunately, an ultraviolet water disinfection system can eliminate microscopic disease-causing organisms in your water to keep you and your loved ones happy and healthy.

Not only will eliminating these particulates improve the quality of life in your home or business, but it may also save you from having to pay for costly repairs caused by water damage in the future.

When should I test my water?

Some dissolved solids, heavy metals, minerals, and other impurities cause odors or odd tastes, and in some cases can even affect your health. Even more importantly, some water additives and impurities, like arsenic, cause problems you can’t taste, see, or smell. ECEWA recommends you test your water:

  • After moving to a new house.

  • If you have taste, odor or staining issues.

  • If you are on a private well (annually)
